Všetky vyzbierané peniaze budú použité výhradne na zaplatenie potrebných dávok imunoterapie a my s mamou Vám budeme za akúkoľvek pomoc, či zdieľanie zo srdca vďační. All the money collected will be used exclusively to pay for the necessary doses of immunotherapy and together with my mum we will be grateful deep from our hearts for any kind of help, sharing and your thoughts.

Zbierka na financovanie imunoterapie
Imunoterapia má pomôcť imunitnému systému odhaliť nádorové bunky, ktoré sám nedokáže vždy správne rozoznať, a zároveň ho posilňuje, aby dokázal nádor zničiť. Na rozdiel od klasickej chemoterapie sa táto liečba zameriava iba na nádorové bunky a nepoškodzuje ostatné bunky v tele. Na Slovensku však ešte stale nepatrí medzi štandardnú liečbu nádorových ochorení. Je veľmi finančne náročná a i keď ste na ňu vhodným pacientom zdravotná poisťovňa ju nehradí. Pre bežného človeka je preto takmer nemožné dostať sa k liečbe, ktorá mu môže zachrániť život. Pre našu mamu je práve imunoterapia dnes už jedinou poslednou možnosťou liečby, má za sebou prvé dva cykly a jej výsledky ukazujú, že choroba začala ustupovať. Dlhodobé financovanie bez pomoci poisťovne však nie je v našich možnostiach, a hoci nie je ľahké prosiť o peniaze iných ľudí, rozhodli sme sa vytvoriť túto zbierku, ak to môže byť spôsob ako jej pomôcť.
Immunotherapy treatment for our mum
Immunotherapy is helping the immune system to detect cancer cells which it cannot always recognize properly. The immune system is being strengthened at the same time so that it can destroy the tumor itself. Unlike conventional chemotherapy, this treatment focuses only on cancer cells and does not damage healthy cells in the body. However, immunotherapy is still not one of the standard treatments for cancer in Slovakia. It is very financially demanding and even if you are a suitable patient for it, the insurance company does not normally cover its costs. Therefore, for many patients it's almost impossible to get a treatment that can save their lives. After long years battling cancer, for our mum it's the only treatment available. She has completed first two cycles of immunotherapy recently and her results showing that the treatment is starting to work. However, long-term financing without the help of an insurance company is not within our means. And although it is not easy to ask other people for money, we decided to create this fundraising campaign if it could be the only way to help our mum being healthy again.
Naša mama by pre nás urobila čokoľvek. Rovnako ako všetky naše mamy. Má 71 rokov, no jej energiou, silou a optimizmom sa jej nevyrovnám. Napriek tomu čím si prechádza, je to vždy ona, kto utešuje ostatných, nikdy ju nestretnete so zlou náladou a stále je tou najaktívnejšou a najpracovitejšou osobou akú poznám.
Karcinóm krčka maternice jej diagnostikovali prvýkrát v roku 2014, kedy podstúpila invazívnu operáciu hysterektómiu a niekoľko cyklov chemo/rádioterapie. Už v tom čase bola choroba v pokročilejšom štádiu, hoci chodievala pravidelne na preventívne prehliadky. Cez to všetko sa vyliečila a my sme počas 4 rokov na to ťažké obdobie úplne zabudli. Bol to preto obrovský šok keď sa jej choroba v posledných rokoch dvakrát vrátila a rozšírila sa do lymfatického systému. Mama tak prešla viacerými cyklami chemoterapie, rádioterapie, biologickou liečbou a má za sebou dnes dokopy už tri operácie.
V posledných mesiacoch však chemoterapia prestala účinkovať a jej onkomarkery začali veľmi rýchlo stúpať. Hľadali sme preto iné spôsoby liečby, ktoré by jej mohli pomôcť. Jedinou možnosťou z pohľadu doktorov zostala imunoterpia, o ktorú sme museli sami požiadať, keďže ešte stále na Slovensku nepatrí medzi štandardnú liečbu. Je veľmi finančne náročná a i keď ste na ňu vhodným pacientom zdravotná poisťovňa ju bežne nehradí. Je preto takmer nemožné dostať sa k liečbe, ktorá vám môže zachrániť život.
Na to, aby bola pre našu mamu imunoterapia účinná, je potrebné aby ju dostala každé tri týždne, pričom jedna dávka stojí 4170 eur. Ich celkový počet závisí od množstva faktorov, no podľa doktorov to môže byť aj počas obdobia jedného roka. Sme traja súrodenci a prvé tri lieky sme spoločne zaplatili, no pochopili sme, že dlhodobo nie je v našich možnostiach ich ďalšie financovanie ani s podporou rodiny. Naša najväčšia radosť prišla s prvými výsledkami, ktoré ukazujú, že liečba začína zaberať a to nám dodáva obrovskú nádej.
Pre mamu by sme rovnako ako ona pre nás urobili čokoľvek, len aby bola znovu zdravá. A aj keď nie je ľahké prosiť o peniaze iných ľudí, rozhodli sme sa vytvoriť túto zbierku, ak to môže byť spôsob ako jej pomôcť. Všetky vyzbierané peniaze budú použité výhradne na zaplatenie potrebných dávok imunoterapie a my s mamou Vám budeme za akúkoľvek pomoc, či zdieľanie zo srdca vďační.

All our mums are the same, they would do anything for us. Our mum is already in her 70s, but even myself I can't match her energy, strenght and optimism. Despite everything she went through, it's been always her the brightest person around, consoling everyone, she is the most active, hardworking person I know and her greatest joy today are her grandchildren.
She was diagnosed with cervical cancer for the first time in 2014, her disease being at a more advanced stage from the very beginning. At that time she underwent invasive surgery (hysterectomy) and several cycles of chemo/radiotherapy. She responded well to the treatment and during the next 4 years she has been completely healthy again. We have quickly forgotten about this very difficult period. Thus, it came as a huge shock when her disease returned twice in recent years and has spread to the lymphatic system. She has undergone several cycles of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, biological treatment and a total of three surgeries since then.
In recent months, however, the chemotherapy ceased being effective and her oncomarkers started to rise at a very quick pace. Therefore, we had to look for other treatments available. According to the doctors, immunotherapy is the only available option for my mum. Immunotherapy is helping the immune system to detect cancer cells which it cannot always recognize properly. The immune system is being strenghtened at the same time so that it can destroy the tumor itself. Due to the fact, that it is still not a standard treatment in Slovakia, we had no choice as to request it ourselves. it is very financially demanding and even if you are a suitable patient, the insurance company wouldn't normally cover the costs. Thus, for a lot of patients it's nearly impossible to get the best treatment that can save their lives.
In order for the immunotherapy to be effective for our mum, it is necessary for her to receive it every three weeks, while one dose costs 4170 eur. Their total number depends on a number of factors, but accordig to doctors, it can go up to a period of one year. We are three siblings and we paid for the first three injections together. However, we understood that in the long run it is not possible for us to finance it even with the support of the family. The greatest hope came after her recent results which are already showing that the treatment has started to work.
Like our mum, we would do anything to get her healthy again. And while it's not easy to ask other people for money, we've decided to create this fundraising campaign if this could be the way to help her. All the money collected will be used exclusively to pay for the necessary doses of immunotherapy and together with our mum we will be grateful deep from our hearts for any kind of help, sharing and your thoughts.

Chceli by sme sa poďakovať všetkým darcom za Vašu obrovskú pomoc, podporu a silu, ktorú ste našej mame posielali po celý čas jej boja s chorobou. Sme nesmierne šťastní a vďační, že liečba zabrala a mama je dnes opäť zdravá. We would like to thank all our donors for your help, support and the strenght you were sending to our mum during her fight with the disease. We are extremely happy and thankful that the treatment was successful and our mum is being healthy again. Šesť mesiacov liečby
Mama má dnes za sebou už pol roka veľmi úspešnej liečby/7 podaní lieku Keytruda a my sme obdržali tri zamietnuté žiadosti o udelenie výnimky na úhradu jej nákladov zo Všeobecnej zdravotnej poisťovne.
Teši nás však, že jej zdravotný stav je omnoho lepší a že sa stále viac ľudí dozvedá o úspešnosti tejto liečby nielen pre pacientov s malígnym melanómom kože, ale aj pre ženy s recidivujúcou rakovinou krčka maternice.
Chceli by sme Vám opäť poďakovať za Vašu obrovskú pomoc a množstvo podporných správ, ktoré od Vás dostávame.

It's been already half a year our mum has been receiving the immunotherapy treatment/7 administrations of Keytruda so far and we have received 3 negative statements on the option of reimbursment of the treatment from the insurance company.
However, we are extremely happy that our mum's health has improved significantly and that there is still more and more people learning about the success of immunotherapy treatment not only for the patients with skin melanoma but also for women with recurrent cervical cancer.

Po mesiaci a pol čakania nám Všeobecná zdravotná poisťovňa zamietla žiadosť o preplatenie dalšej liečby s odôvodnením, že liek nie je indikovaný na daný typ diagnózy. Napriek tomu, že výsledky sú už po podaní štvrtého lieku nad naše očakávania, onkomarkery výrazne klesli a mama sa cíti veľmi dobre. Budeme sa však snažiť ďalej, podávame odvolanie, oslovili sme Ligu proti rakovine a chceli by sme, aby sa čo najviac pacientov dozvedelo o tom, že imunoliečba môže fungovať a byť nádejou aj pre nich.

After a month and a half of waiting the insurance company rejected our request to cover the costs of further treatment on the grounds that it hasn't been indicated for the given type of diagnosis. Despite the fact that results after the fourth cycle of immunotherapy are above our expectations, oncomarkers decreased rapidly and our mum feels very well. However, we will try further, we are filing an appeal and contacting Slovak League Against Cancer as we would like as many patients as possible to know that immunotherapy can work and be their hope too.
